Tablecloth FAQs
Which fabric lasts longest in a busy restaurant setting?
Polyester and poly‑cotton blends are top performers. They resist stains, dry quickly, and don’t wrinkle easily. Cotton offers a softer, premium feel, but requires more care.
Can I order custom sizes or shapes like circular or square linens?
Alongside our standard rectangular styles, we can supply circular and square sizes to suit a wide range of tables, from the smallest bistro table to large banquet tables. If you need bespoke sizing, please get in touch with us and we’d be happy to talk about your requirements.
How can I remove stains from my tablecloths?
Even though our tablecloths are designed to resist stains and hold up against the hustle and bustle of hospitality life, spills are bound to happen. Red wine, curry, and other tough offenders can sometimes leave their mark.
For white tablecloths, a good starting point is a wash at 60°C, which should lift most stains. If any traces remain, you can bring in a specialist stain remover to help. Just avoid using bleach. It might seem like a quick fix, but it can permanently weaken the fibres.
Coloured tablecloths can also be washed at 60°C to help remove marks, but again, give bleach a wide berth, as it can ruin the colour and damage the fabric.
Still seeing spots? Whether you're washing white or coloured tablecloths, you can raise the temperature up to 90°C for extra cleaning power. Just a heads-up – washing at higher temperatures might lead to creasing. If that happens, a second wash at a lower temperature should help smooth things out.
For further information, please see the ‘care instructions’ tab that’s present on any of our tablecloth product pages.
Can I mix and match shapes and colours for events?
Of course! Many hospitality venues create visual interest by pairing circular tables in white with coloured rectangular ones. Feel free to mix fabrics to suit different areas of your venue.
How do I know what size tablecloth I need for my table? How much should the tablecloth hang over?
Tablecloths are measured by their full length and width when laid flat. To get the right size for your table, measure your table’s surface dimensions and then add the desired drop (overhang) on all sides. For example, for square and rectangular measure the width and length of the table. For a round table, measure the diameter.
Next, you need to decide on the drop length you want. For a professional look in restaurants or catering settings, we recommend a drop of around 20–30cm on each side. For formal events or banqueting, a longer drop - down to the floor - can elevate the aesthetic. Just remember to account for chair clearance if you go long!
Then you calculate using this simple formula: table size + (drop length x 2) = ideal tablecloth size. For example, if your table measures 118 x 118cm and you want a drop of 20cm, the size you need would be 118+60 x 118+60 = 178 x 178cm.
